Genetics And Chiropractic Part1

Friday, May 27th, 2011

It has been proven that chiropractic care has had a positive effect on overall wellness and health behaviors. Furthermore, it has also helped in reducing general medical costs. Lately, though, new evidence has shown that chiropractic adjustments can actually affect the chemistry of biological processes (on a cellular level). As a result, chiropractic has entered the field of genetics.

A study found that chiropractic care could affect the basic physiological processes that influenced oxidative stress and how DNA repairs itself. Findings, such as this one point, to scientific explanations for the positive effects were reported by chiropractic care patients. Despite the fact that more research is needed to further support the chiropractic role in countering biological processes, current evidence in favor of chiropractic care is very promising.

In a specific research, patients undergoing short-term and long-term chiropractic care had their serum thiol levels measured and compared to those undergoing traditional medical care. Serum thiol acts as primary antioxidants (measuring human health status). The test provides a substitute estimate of DNA’s repair enzyme activity that is associated with lifespan health. The results from these studies show that patients who have been receiving chiropractic treatment for at least two years have maintained normal physiological states. Patients who were free of symptoms while undergoing chiropractic care regimens showed higher mean serum thiol levels than patients with an ongoing disease. These patients also showed serum thiol levels in higher concentrations than normal wellness values.

Throughout a person’s lifespan, one experiences chemical, physical, and emotional stress which affects the functioning of the nervous system. Researchers agree that cellular DNA repair and oxidative stress levels can be influenced by nerve function. According to experts, oxidative stress (free radicals that are churned in the metabolism) affects how we develop diseases and how we age. Through oxidative stress, DNA is damaged and prevented from repairing itself. DNA repair is the way to fix the damage caused by environmental impact.

Hearth Health Part1

Monday, May 16th, 2011

If your family members have heart disease, you could be anxious about having it yourself. This is not surprising, considering that every year almost 1 million Americans die of issues related to the heart. You can rest assured, however, since genetic predisposition is just one factor that can determine whether or not you will develop heart disease. There are many other factors that can counteract genetic predisposition, and these measures can have a greater impact on the lifelong health of your heart. With a few tips at hand, you will be on your way to promote and maintain a healthy heart.

Healthy Heart Tips
If you add a sedentary lifestyle to poor nutritional habits, a dangerous scenario ensues, for it can lead to many health issues (for instance, coronary heart disease). If you change some unhealthy habits now, you’re less likely to have heart issues down the road. Here are a few manageable tips that can have a dramatic effect on your heart.
* Make sure to eat plenty of heart-healthy fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and foods rich in fiber.
* Incorporate seafood into your diet, making sure to eat fish at least twice per week.
* Be careful with the amount of trans and saturated fat you eat, and watch your cholesterol. At most, 30% of your daily caloric intake should come from fat. By reducing your consumption of animal fat, you can lower the saturated fat you take in. To cut back on trans fat, steer clear of hydrogenated vegetable oils.
* Avoid too much sodium. Reducing your salt intake will improve the health of your heart.
* Look for fat-free or low-fat versions of dairy products.
* Aim to get your nutrients from the actual foods that you eat, as opposed to merely seeking them in supplements. Vitamins and minerals in foods like beans and artichokes are very beneficial and tasty.
* If you don’t exercise, start. Exercise is instrumental in keeping your heart strong. Exercising helps control blood pressure and cholesterol, as well as helping to prevent diabetes. Exercising for 30 minutes a day, five times a week, will provide lifelong benefits. These 30 minutes can be broken up in 15-minute increments, such as walking in the morning and early evening. If you’re overweight, steer clear from fad diets that promise miracles but delivers only short-term results at best. These diets can put a lot of strain on your body and your heart.
* Try tai chi. It promotes a healthy heart, affects posture and balance, and is suitable for people of all ages and conditions.
* Quit smoking. This is a must for maintaining your heart’s health.

Organic Food Part1

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Recently, many conscious shoppers have been trying to figure out if organic food really is better for them, or if the organic food movement is just a fad with no real substance behind it.

Firstly, let’s evaluate the word organic and how it is applied To farm organically is to adhere to a set of rules regarding humans, animals, and the environment. Organic farms leave chemicals out of the equation and cultivate their food naturally. This is part of a wider concern that seeks to lessen damage to the environment and wildlife, as well as to humans who eat the food. The worth of the global organic market is over $27 billion. The approximate size of land devoted to it is as big as Italy.

The Labels on Organic Products
An organic label means two things: that any processors or importers used in association with this food product have been approved, and that it comes from a farm. If a food item is processed, then 95% of the farmed ingredients must be certified as organic. Regarding the remaining 5%, they do not have to be organic, but they do have to meet certain guidelines.

Organic food producers have to follow these guidelines to achieve organic certification: They must not use fertilizers as they contain nitrous oxide. The soil is kept fertile with manure and crop rotation that alternates the planted crops, leaving natural nutrients behind. Pesticides must also not be used. In the alternative, bugs are kept at bay by other insects, as well as by weeding and planting other crops next to each other in order to deal with each one’s pests.

Most additives (like artificial coloring or preservatives) are forbidden. Humane treatment of animals is a priority. They must be given space to roam, be fed organic food, and farmers must follow minimum slaughter age rules. There are many other humane treatment guidelines for animals.

Digestive Disorders Part1

Sunday, April 17th, 2011

Various studies have illustrated the effectiveness of chiropractic care in treating patients with digestive conditions. Infants with infrequent bowel syndrome displayed almost immediate relief of their symptoms after their chiropractic sessions, according to a study.

In yet another study, it showed a verifiable link between misalignments of the spine and the onset of Crohn’s disease. Crohn’s disease inflames the small intestine, and can impair any part of the digestive tract. This painful Inflammation results in frequent emptying of the intestines, as well as diarrhea.

The generally accepted theory around the culprit of Crohn’s disease is that the immune system is reacting to a bacterium or virus. Traditional treatment for Crohn’s disease involves the use of corticosteroids to address the inflammation. But corticosteroids’ serious side-effects may put one at a greater risk of infection. Also used are medications that block the immunological system. Aiding (not stalling) the immune system was the goal of the researchers of this study that looked at drug-free treatment options.

Studies also indicate that there is a connection between spinal displacements and such disorders as ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel disorder, asthma, and Crohn’s disease. This particular study revealed that when displacements are corrected, symptoms of Crohn’s disease improve dramatically. Research findings also point to another attendant benefit of chiropractic care. Along with treating the digestive condition, chiropractic care also seeks to improve the patient’s quality of life.

For a comprehensive evaluation of your digestive condition, contact a chiropractor
When a chiropractic doctor corrects misalignments that are hindering nerve function, the patient does not experience pain. After the patient receives a spinal adjustment, his or her uncomfortable symptoms are apt to go away.

People who endure digestive conditions find relief in chiropractic care, as it can bring balance to digestion’s innate rhythm. In addition to spinal manipulation, your chiropractor may also employ the use of nutritional counseling as part of his or her practice. You may also receive recommendations for healing herbs, vitamins, and mineral supplements to enhance the scope of your treatment.

Asthma Care Henderson

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Asthma, or hyperactive airways, is a reversible obstructive respiratory disorder. If asthma is not managed property, it can potentially become life threatening problem called status asthmaticus.

Asthma occurs when the smooth muscles in the bronchiole contract spastically, making a great difficulty to breathe. This usually happens when particles in the air create this hypersensitive reaction, says Dr Israel Villasenor DC. About 70% of asthma cases in those younger than 30 years old are from allergic hypersensitivity. Older patients with asthma are usually affected by non-allergic factors in the air, such as smog, rather than foreign particles. A person with asthma can usually inhale normally, but has a hard time exhaling.

If you receive proper management for asthma, you can live an active life and be symptom-free most of the time. You should still treat your NV asthma even during times that you feel completely symptom-free. Smoke, cold air, and smog are other contributing factors to asthma, so it is highly important to stay away from them during treatment. Asthma can also be induced by virus and allergies; it is a good idea to avoid them. A person who keeps up with regular asthma treatment can keep the asthma under control.

An alternative form of care for your asthma is chiropractic; contact your Henderson doctor of chiropractic to find out more about asthma treatment.

Leg Pain

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

NV leg pain can result from a lower leg conditions; this can be very serious, or harmless. The exact trigger of the pain can be from overuse, misuse, or trauma, but knowing the history will help to narrow down the precise cause of the leg pain. In older patients, leg pain (specifically of the calf area) should always suggest the possibility of deep vein thrombosis. Leg swelling from trauma or muscle strain is very similar to that of thrombosis. This makes it hard to determine cases of this life threatening leg disorder.

Exercises is one of the causes of lower leg pain for athletes. Strain in the calf muscle from biomechanical imbalances at the foot level causes the leg pain.

To understand the exact cause of the leg pain, your chiropractor, Dr Israel Villasenor DC, will go through your health history, as well as administer neurological and orthopaedic testing, and diagnostic radiography. Afterwards, they will determine the appropriate treatment plan for your condition.

Muscle Pull Chiropractor Therapy

Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

A damaged particular muscle-tendon section causes muscle strain, or muscle trauma as it is also referred to. If injury is done to the muscle fibers, the muscle-tendon connection, the tendon or the bony insertion point, a muscle strain is most likely to develop. Mild, moderate or severe muscle strains in Henderson are classifications given to them based on the medical assessment. An overstretched muscle is the most frequent cause of muscle strain. Muscle pull and muscle strain are actually the same condition.

Regular symptoms of muscle strain include stiffness, pain focused on one area and a feeling of being bruised. Oftentimes, a knot appears in the place where this is muscle strain; this is referred to as a tender point, states Dr Israel Villasenor DC. When pain is felt somewhere upon pressure at the tender point of a strained muscle, this area will be known as trigger point.

Then, when a painful nerve is stimulated and there is involuntary contraction, this is known as muscle spasm.

What will your Chiropractor do so he can pinpoint the cause of your muscle strain? He will 1). Take your history and examine you thoroughly and 2). Let you undergo neurological and orthopaedic testing. After that, Henderson Chiropractor will create a specific plan of management made to suit your case.

Shin Splints Chiropractic Treatment

Monday, December 20th, 2010

When a patient visiting Henderson Chiropractor has shin splints, there are no obvious symptoms; they simply feel pain in the front or back of the lower leg. Shin splints cover a lot of meanings. Among the conditions seen as the cause of shin splints are muscle strain, interosseous membrane strain, tendonitis and periostitis.

There are basically two types of shin splints in Henderson: 1. Anterior shin splints – are so-called when the muscles at the front of the leg which are used for shock absorption, are affected. Constant and prolonged overuse of these muscles in instances such as walking or running on hard surfaces or wearing shoes that do not have shock absorbers shifts the force to the shin bone. A shin splint then develops. 2. Posterior shin splints – involves muscles in the back of the leg. These muscles act as ankle stabilizers and appear to be overstrained when the patient over pronates.

In shin splints, it is generally the middle to the lower third of the shin bone that is painful. Stress fracture is an important differential for shin splints, according to Dr Israel Villasenor DC. But x-rays will not show shin splints, as they come out usually as normal.

Your chiropractor, of NV, will perform a thorough history and examination including orthopaedic, neurological testing and diagnostic radiography to determine the extent of you shin splints. Then a particular plan of management will be made to suit your specific case.
